Dr Salma Ayis obtained her first degree in statistics, BSc (Honours) at Khartoum University, a PGDIP in Mathematics, and a MSc and PhD in Statistics from Southampton University [PhD thesis title: “Modelling Unobserved Heterogeneity: Theoretical and Practical Aspects". Salma has worked extensively on analyses of longitudinal data and causal inference, with applications in various chronic health conditions. Salma teaches statistics at various levels, from undergraduates to post-doctoral courses. She was the director of the Master of Public Health (MPH) Programme (2016-2020). She has extensive experience in the design and analysis of observational studies, clinical trials and surveys, providing statistical advice to researchers and students at King's College London and other institutions, through the Research Design Service (RDS) and other King's consultancy venues. Salma has led several multinational studies in the development and validation of prediction models, trajectories of biological markers and long-term adverse outcomes, and the psychometric properties of mental health scales among others. She is an executive member of the medical section of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) and serves as editor of RSS Journals. Salma is currently a Reader in Medical Statistics at KCL. She joins KiTEC offering statistical support and supervision of ongoing and future studies and grant applications.
