The ImmunoCAP ISAC is a multiplex allergy test that allows clinicians to test a person for multiple allergies at once, using a single blood sample. It may help clinicians diagnose complex or otherwise difficult to diagnose allergies by determining a person’s sensitisation ‘profile’, rather than testing for individual sensitivities one-at-a-time. Although this diagnostic test shows promise, there is not currently sufficient evidence to routinely adopt the ISAC. KiTEC have begun facilitating further research on the test, to determine its place in the diagnostic pathway and its cost-effectiveness.
Study status: A retrospective audit of the ISAC’s use within King’s College Hospital’s paediatric allergy service is underway and prospective multi-centre research has been proposed for the future.
